Medical Acupuncture works by using therapeutic effects of needling. The needles activate nerve fibers by the point of insertion, bringing changes that help to balance nerve signaling and neurotransmitter activity from the “periphery” of the central nervous system and autonomic system. Acupuncture takes into account that every system in the body is connected and affects every other system in some way. When a system does not function correctly, the whole body is out of balance and needs correction. While acupuncture is felt differently by individuals, there is usually little to no pain associated with the therapy and it is considered a non-invasive treatment.
We also proudly offer laser therapy to our clients. Laser therapy, or “cold” laser therapy, has been used in human medicine and has recently been brought over to the veterinary world. This cutting-edge treatment uses light waves to stimulate the cells of the body in a targeted area to activate the body’s own healing processes. Laser therapy is an effective treatment to speed up healing time after an injury or surgery. It is also great for reducing inflammation, making it effective against arthritis or dysplasia. This is often a lower cost alternative to expensive drug therapies which are also hard on some organ functions.
Therapy Lasers have been scientifically proven and successful in treating post-surgical pain and many acute and chronic conditions:
